Kids First is a free, voluntary program that works with pregnant women who are prenatal, who are up to 6 months pregnant, as well as moms who have children up to 3 years old. They help parents with early childhood development, such as stimulation, play, and how to care for their new children. They have support groups for new or expecting parents. Individuals can get a referral from the hospital, agency, or they can self-refer and walk in. A big misconception is that Kids First is an intervention agency, or daycare. They’d like the public to know that they work with families and build on their strengths. They strive to see happy and healthy families.
